Deliverd compared with workflow tools
Your workflow can already wait.
Who it waits for is the question.
Zapier and n8n have approval steps, Temporal workflows wait on a signal and Step Functions waits on a task token. If the work already runs in one of them, the pause is solved. What each leaves to you is different: who the approver is, how they are reached, which rules say who may answer, and where the record is kept.

Human-in-the-loop infrastructure for AI agents. An agent asks a person for an approval, a review or an answer, and carries on when they respond. Below is how that compares with workflow tools, and where the two work together.
Credit where it is due
What workflow tools do well.
Zapier: an approval step
Human in the Loop's Request Approval pauses a Zap until reviewers approve, decline or change the data, with the request sent by email, to Slack or to another Zap.
n8n: review before a tool runs
An AI Agent's tools can require human review. Approve and the tool runs with the AI's input; deny and it is cancelled and the AI is told. The review can go through Slack, Teams, Gmail, Telegram and others.
Temporal and Step Functions: durable waits
A Temporal workflow blocks on a signal with a timeout and records the approval in its history. A Step Functions task waits on a task token, for up to a year, until something returns it.
The boundary
Where it stops.
Zapier's reviewers are Zapier users
Reviewers need a Zapier account, and a reviewer without one is asked to create one. A client's finance director or an outside approver becomes a Zapier user to answer.
n8n reviews in the channel you pick
The review goes to the chat or inbox you choose for it. Which person there may approve which call, and where the decision is kept, are left to how you build the workflow.
Temporal: the approval interface is yours
Temporal's own approval pattern needs an external system to send the signal, and so a separate approval interface: the page, the notification and the check on who answered.
Step Functions: someone returns the token
The workflow resumes when a process calls SendTaskSuccess or SendTaskFailure with the token, from the same AWS account. Reaching the approver and knowing who they are happen before that call, in code you write.
Every point above was read from Zapier's Human in the Loop help article, n8n's human-in-the-loop for tools, Temporal's approval pattern and AWS Step Functions' service integration patterns on 10 October 2026. Products change; if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
Where Deliverd fits
What Deliverd adds.
A named approver
Ask named people or a group. Deliverd reaches them by email, phone notification, Slack and Teams, and checks the person behind each answer.
Rules that travel with the request
Standing rules, on Business and Enterprise, send a request to two people or a named set, or refuse it, whichever workflow raised it.
A callback your workflow can wait on
Name a callback URL when asking and the decision is posted there, signed and retried. Your receiver sends the signal or returns the task token; that step is yours.
One record across tools
A flow ties one job's approvals, reviews and requests together under your reference, and its steps export as one timeline in JSON, CSV or PDF.
Working together
Use both.
Keep the orchestration where it runs. At the step that needs a person, the workflow asks Deliverd and waits on the callback; the approver, the rules and the record come from Deliverd, and the workflow carries on with the answer.
Questions.
Is there a Zapier or n8n integration?
Not a packaged one. Anything that can make an HTTPS request can call the REST API, which is the same API the SDKs and the CLI use.
Does the workflow have to poll?
No. A callback is posted to the address you name when the request settles, signed so the receiver can check it came from Deliverd. Reading the request also works.
Can the approver change what happens next?
Within limits the request sets. The agent names which fields may be corrected, and the decision carries the corrected values back.
Where does the decision live?
In Deliverd's audit trail, with who was asked, what they decided and when, and in the callback your workflow receives.
Ask the right person before the agent acts.
